Okay, so the budget question! The most frequent question I get. Finding that sweet spot where it feels generous but not over-the-top is definitely one of the top concerns of my clients.
If you've ever sat there staring at your cart thinking, "Is this too much? Not enough?", well you're definitely not alone in that.
Here's what I usually tell people:
-
Everyday or thank-you gifts: $15–$50. These are your quick appreciation moments. Someone sent you a great referral, left an amazing review, or you just wrapped up a smaller project. This range feels genuine without feeling over-the-top.
-
Client milestone or closing gifts: $50–$150. These are the bigger moments to celebrate like closing day, a website launch, a home remodel, a big landscaping project. It could be something nice for their home or a personalized item that ties back to the project.
-
Employee appreciation or VIP clients: $100–$250. These are your people. Your long-time repeat clients, your top referrers, your team members that help keep your business running smoothly. You're investing in an important relationship so a gift that feels extra-special is a really nice way to say, "I appreciate you and I value you."
But please remember — it's not about the price tag. A thoughtful $25 gift that is personal is more memorable than a $75 generic gift that could be from anyone.
The gifts that really hit are the ones that show you have been listening. Clients can tell when you’ve actually paid attention, and they genuinely appreciate it because it’s not about spending more, it’s about remembering them. Maybe you always see them reaching for tea (never coffee), they’ve mentioned they love citrusy scents, they joke about being addicted to chocolate, or you know they love to cook. Those little details basically hand you the perfect gift idea: a great tea, a candle that smells like fresh citrus, and their favorite chocolatey treat all bundled up in a way that shows you really get them. That kind of attentiveness is what makes a gift feel extra special and personal! And the best part is, you already have all this info from your day-to-day interactions with them.
At Fancy That, we're here to help you find that perfect balance — something kind to your budget but still feels like a total treat. Just tell us who you're gifting, what the occasion is, and what you want to spend, and we'll help you put together the perfect gift.
You've got enough going on. Fancy That will make the gifting part easy and fun!
